Training refugee leaders with APNOR-APRRN
In March 2023, we had the privilege of collaborating with the Asia Pacific Network of Refugees (APRRN) and the Asia Pacific Refugee Rights Network (APRRN) to develop and deliver a transformative online training as part of their Skills Enhancement training course for refugee leaders in the Asia Pacific region.
Empowering Grassroots Leaders
The three-hour workshop covered the essential elements of communications planning for emerging organizations, equipping refugee leaders with a framework to effectively share their important stories and initiatives with the world. The training also explored vital techniques for storytellers to strategically protect themselves and their beneficiaries through thoughtful, nuanced communication.
We always get excited by collaborative initiatives like these that allow us to reach and support community-led organisations/initiatives on a wider scale.
Looking ahead, we're committed to leveraging our expertise to empower marginalized communities and grassroots changemakers; to truly move the needle on the social issues that matter most.
"[Zamira's] approach was friendly, engaging, and ensured that material and discussions were accessible and relevant across a range of different experiences. Her communication skills, passion, and professionalism was evident throughout the planning and facilitation process. Coordinating remotely across different time-zones was incredibly smooth. I look forward to collaborating in the future!" - Zerrin Holle, Project Coordinator, APNOR

About APNOR
Asia Pacific Network of Refugees (APNOR) is the only region-wide refugee-led network of refugee-led initiatives in the Asia Pacific region that is working with and for refugees. APNOR was established in 2018, on the recommendation of Asia Pacific Summit of Refugees (APSOR), which brought together 104 representatives from refugee-led organizations in Asia to advocate for refugee agency & self-representation.
About APPRN
APRRN was formed in 2008 at a regional conference on refugee rights, held in Malaysia, in which representatives of 70 civil society organisations from 14 countries determined the need for a coordinating entity to convene collaborative action to advance refugee rights across the Asia Pacific region.
